Certain settings are missing from the FRITZ!Box user interface

You want to use or set up a certain function in the FRITZ!Box user interface. However, the corresponding settings, for example menu items or buttons, are not displayed although these settings are available in the user interface of a different FRITZ!Box of the same type.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Enabling the Advanced View

  1. Enable the Advanced View in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

2 FRITZ!OS is updated by the provider

If you received your FRITZ!Box from your internet service provider, the provider hides the "Update" menu because the provider automatically installs the new FRITZ!OS. It is therefore not possible to install an update using the FRITZ!Box user interface. Information on the new FRITZ!OS version and possible dates can be obtained from your provider.

3 Enabling the Wi-Fi network

Some Wi-Fi settings are only displayed if the Wi-Fi network is enabled:

  1. Click "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Wi-Fi Network" ("Radio Network") in the "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") menu.
  3. Enable the Wi-Fi network for the 2.4 and the 5 GHz frequency bands. If the option "Wireless radio network enabled" is only displayed once, enable the Advanced View first.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

4 Enabling the landline settings

The following steps are only necessary if the FRITZ!Box is connected to a landline and the settings for landline telephony are not displayed in the user interface:

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click on the "Line Settings" tab.
  4. Enable the option "Landline enabled".
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

5 FRITZ!Box is configured as an IP client / repeater

If the FRITZ!Box is configured as an "IP client" under "Internet > Account Information", all of the settings that cannot be used in this operating mode are hidden. This is the case with port sharing, dynamic DNS, IP settings, the online meter, and DSL information. If the upstream router makes these functions available, you can set them up there. These settings are only available in the FRITZ!Box if the FRITZ!Box establishes the internet connection, for example when it is used as a DSL router.
