DOCSIS:

Smart Home:

With each FRITZ!OS update, AVM also updates its security functions. Therefore we recommend performing the update for all devices.

Below you find a complete list and descriptions of the new functions in the latest FRITZ!OS, along with a list of further improvements in this version.
I. New Features, Improvements and Updates in this Lab
Mobile Communications:
- Improved New software for the mobile modem with various optimizations and improved stability
- Improved Antenna alignment aid visualizes the values of the first 5G and 4G cell for 5G NSA connections
- Improved Preferred cell can be set for the initial mobile connection
- Improved Calculation method for determining the connection share of a mobile phone cell revised

- Improved List of numeric network identifiers (PLMNs) with mapping to network or provider names has been updated
- Improved Simplified commissioning of SIM cards from resale providers who use national roaming (explicit roaming activation for national roaming no longer required)
- Improved Provider name is determined from SIM parameter "Provider Network Name (PNN) if no "Service Provider Name (SPN)" is set on the SIM card
- Improved Mobile telephony (VoLTE/VoNR) can also be used while "Internet access via WiFi" is being used
Note on setting up:
- Set up cell and mobile phone number
- Edit phone number and activate option "Use mobile phone number even when using Internet access via Wi-Fi"
- Finally switch to "Internet access via Wi-Fi" Result: Only the mobile phone number will then continue to be used via mobile connection

- Fixed Mobile modem sometimes fails to initialize at system startup
- Fixed Information about 3G cells is sometimes displayed incorrectly
Internet:
- Changed The AES-192 encryption algorithm is no longer supported in Phase 2 SAs of VPN connections
- Changed The hash algorithm MD5 and the 3DES encryption algorithm are no longer used on VPN connections over IPSec for reasons of security
- Changed The IPv6 option "Assign unique local addresses (ULA) as long as no IPv6 internet connection exists (recommended)" is no longer offered
- Fixed Under some circumstances the network traffic of a connected telephone system was not routed via a specially configured VoIP interface
- Fixed Under certain circumstances, OpenWrt devices operated behind a FRITZ!Box did not receive an IPv6 connection to the internet
- Fixed Independent port sharing (UPnP) for the same port with various home network devices did not work under certain circumstances
- Fixed In some circumstances active WireGuard® connections were interrupted when adding or deleting WireGuard® connections
- Fixed VPN connections via WireGuard® to an endpoint given as multiple (comma separated) domains could not be established
- Fixed No IPv6 connection possible - Provider WINDTRE (IT)
Telephony
- Fixed Incoming calls via VoLTE were not signaled under certain circumstances (WIND / IT)
- Fixed Dialing numbers starting with 999 not possible in Cyprus
Wi-Fi:
- Changed For improved compatibility with older wireless devices, security settings can be adjusted on the "Wi-Fi > Security" page
- Changed Text reference to selection of "WPA2 + WPA3" Wi-Fi encryption removed
- Fixed Display of Wi-Fi properties of a registered wireless device was in rare cases incorrect
- Fixed When 5-GHz channels were checked for radar (DFS), no wait cursor was displayed under these channels in the user interface
- Fixed Repeaters that were logged into the guest network were not marked as "Wi-Fi guests"
Home Network:
- Changed Recommendation to enable the automatic update search at the bottom of the Mesh Overview page
System:
- Changed The link generated by "Forgot Password" push service in the email is valid for 20 minutes
- Fixed After results of functional diagnostics were sent, an event message about changed FRITZ!Box settings was displayed
- Fixed When accessing the FRITZ!Box interface via the internet (https), individual elements or pages were sporadically missing

This FRITZ! Lab firmware is a beta version. AVM tested the software in standard environments before making it available to the public, but it may still result in malfunctions. AVM will not be liable for any damages that arise from the use of the lab version.

Before You Start Testing the Lab Version
1) You have not installed the latest firmware for your FRITZ!Box yet? Then you must first update the firmware to the latest release.
2) Save your current settings under "System / Backup". The saved settings will be needed if you want to switch back from the lab firmware back to the release firmware.
Testing the Lab Version
Once the latest firmware has been installed on your FRITZ!Box and you have saved your current settings, you can begin testing.
1) Unzip the "fritzbox-6860_5g-labor-xxxxx.zip file".
2) Use the FRITZ!Box user interface to install the update:
- Select "View: Advanced" in the footer.
- Navigate left in the menu to "System / Update".
- Switch to the "FRITZ!OS File" tab.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Enter in the input field the path to the lab firmware and the name of the firmware itself (FRITZ.Box_6860_5G-08.02-xxxxx-LabBETA.image). 3) The firmware is transferred to the FRITZ!Box. Then the FRITZ!Box will restart.
Restoring Your Device to the Condition It Was in Before Testing
You can restore the official FRITZ!OS to your FRITZ!Box at any time under "System / Update / FRITZ!OS Version", or reset the FRITZ!Box using the included Windows program "FRITZ.Box_6860_5G-07.62-recover" (included in the lab package).

IV. Information on the Lab Update
This FRITZ! Lab firmware is a beta version. AVM tested the software in standard environments before making it available to the public, but it may still result in malfunctions. AVM will not be liable for any damages that arise from the use of the lab version.
Information on Working with Lab Versions
We appreciate any feedback from our users, which can be submitted on the page en.avm.de/fritz-lab.
This page also presents all of the current FRITZ! Lab versions with corresponding feedback areas.
Before You Start Testing the Lab Version
1) You have not installed the latest firmware for your FRITZ!Box yet? Then you must first update the firmware to the latest release.
2) Save your current settings under "System / Backup". The saved settings will be needed if you want to switch back from the lab firmware back to the release firmware.
Testing the Lab Version
Once the latest firmware has been installed on your FRITZ!Box and you have saved your current settings, you can begin testing.
1) Unzip the "fritzbox-6850_lte-labor-xxxxx.zip file".
2) Use the FRITZ!Box user interface to install the update:
- Select "View: Advanced" in the footer.
- Navigate left in the menu to "System / Update".
- Switch to the "FRITZ!OS File" tab.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Enter in the input field the path to the lab firmware and the name of the firmware itself (FRITZ.Box_6850_LTE-08.02-xxxxx-LabBETA.image). 3) The firmware is transferred to the FRITZ!Box. Then the FRITZ!Box will restart.
Restoring Your Device to the Condition It Was in Before Testing
You can restore the official FRITZ!OS to your FRITZ!Box at any time under "System / Update / FRITZ!OS Version", or reset the FRITZ!Box using the included Windows program "FRITZ.Box_6850_LTE-08.0x-recover" (included in the lab package).
