Using the FRITZ!Repeater in a home network without a DHCP server
A router (for example FRITZ!Box) with automatic IP address assignment (DHCP) is necessary for the convenient use of your FRITZ!Repeater and all of its functions. Experienced users can use the FRITZ!Repeater without a DHCP server, but the following restrictions apply when using it:
- The user interface cannot be opened.
- FRITZ!OS updates cannot be installed.
- None of the convenience functions (for example schedule, push service) are available.
- The FRITZ!Box Audio and USB Remote Connection cannot be used for audio output and you cannot listen to internet radio stations configured in the user interface.
Computers, smartphones, and other devices connected to the FRITZ!Repeater can normally access the home network and the router's internet connection without a DHCP server, as long as their static IP settings allow this.
