Connecting a powerline device from another manufacturer to a FRITZ!Powerline network

Connect a powerline device from another manufacturer to your existing FRITZ!Powerline network. FRITZ!Powerline devices are compatible with the powerline standards HomePlug AV2, HomePlug AV, HomePlug, and IEEE P1901.

You can set up the connection quickly and securely at the push of a button or using the user interface of a FRITZ!Powerline device. The network password of the FRITZ!Powerline network is transmitted to the powerline device from the other manufacturer and an encrypted connection is established.

1 Connecting powerline devices with each other by button

  1. For setup, plug the powerline device from the other manufacturer into an outlet near a FRITZ!Powerline device that is already in the powerline network.
  2. Push the connect button on the powerline device from the other manufacturer. The procedure depends on the powerline device. Refer to the manufacturer of the device for information on how to set it up, for example consult the manual.
  3. Push the Powerline  · Security button on the FRITZ!Powerline device within 2 minutes.
  4. The process is completed and the powerline devices are connected with each other as soon as the Powerline · Security LED on the FRITZ!Powerline device remains lit.

2 Connecting powerline devices with each other using the user interface

  1. For setup, plug the powerline device from the other manufacturer into a nearby outlet.
  2. Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  3. Click on "Network" in the "Home Network" menu.
  4. Click on the "Network Connections" tab.
  5. Click the (Edit) button for a FRITZ!Powerline device without Wi-Fi support that is already in the powerline network.
  6. In the "Powerline pairing" section, click on the "Connect" button.
  7. Ready the powerline device from the other manufacturer for registration. The procedure depends on the powerline device. Refer to the manufacturer of the device for information on how to set it up, for example consult the manual.
  8. The process is completed and the powerline devices are connected with each other as soon as the Powerline LED on the FRITZ!Powerline device remains lit.
