Operating the answering machine using the voice menu
The language in which the greetings and the voice menu are played depends on the language set in the FRITZ!Box user interface. If German is selected, greetings and voice messages are played in German. With all other languages, greetings and voice messages are played in English.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Configuring a telephone to use the keypad function
Keypad sequences are strings of characters and numbers that you can use to enable or disable functions. You can use keypad sequences immediately with telephones, such as FRITZ!Fon C5, that are registered with the base station of your FRITZ!Box. If you are using a cordless telephone that is not registered with the FRITZ!Box's base station, you must enable the keypad function first:
- Configure the telephone so you can send keypad sequences (sequences of characters and numbers, such as *121#) and enter special characters such as * and # with it. On many telephones, you can configure this function in the menu "Operation at a PBX > Dialing options > Dial * and #".
2 Operating an answering machine
- Pick up the handset of a telephone connected to the FRITZ!Box.
- Enter the internal number of the answering machine to access the voice menu, for example **600.
Note:You can find the answering machine's internal number under "Telephone Book > Internal Numbers" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Follow the voice menu prompts or press a key to operate the answering machine.
3 Overview of the voice menu
Some menu items are missing if the answering machine is switched off. To listen to messages, for example, you must switch on the answering machine first.
Note:With FRITZ!Fon or MyFRITZ!App, you can also listen to messages on the answering machine when it is switched off.
