The FRITZ!Box cannot be used as a simple modem or in so-called bridge mode. If it were used as a simple modem, it would no longer be possible to use the telephony functions and television services included in internet packages offered with many fiber optic connections. The majority of the FRITZ!Box functions could also not be used then. Therefore, set up the FRITZ!Box as described in the guide Setting up the FRITZ!Box for use with a fiber optic connection.

If your internet service provider allows you to establish several parallel internet connections, you can enable the PPPoE passthrough function in the FRITZ!Box. This allows computers our routers connected to the FRITZ!Box to establish additional PPPoE internet connections with their own account information.
