FRITZ!Box reports "The ports assigned externally for this sharing are different from the ones you requested"

After configuring a port sharing rule, the ports displayed in the list of port sharings under "Port Assigned Externally" in the FRITZ!Box are not the ports you want to share. The ports that differ are displayed with a yellow exclamation point. When you click it, the following error message is displayed:

"The ports assigned externally for this sharing are different from the ones you requested."

Cause

  • The FRITZ!Box set up port sharing for a different, external port because the desired port was already shared for a different device or the FRITZ!Box itself. It is not possible to share the same TCP or USB port more than once in NAT routers like the FRITZ!Box.

Workaround

  1. If this problem occurs with port sharings for an IP telephone or internet telephony software, see the instructions given in the guide Using an IP telephone or internet telephony software with the FRITZ!Box.
  2. If it occurs with port sharings for VPN software or a VPN server, see the instructions given in the guide Using VPN software from another manufacturer in the home network.
  3. To access the device or software, use the ports that are displayed in the FRITZ!Box user interface under "Port Assigned Externally". If this is not possible, configure the device so that it uses ports to accept connections from the internet that are not used by the FRITZ!Box or other devices.

Important:If you use the same software on several devices, assign it different ports for incoming connections on each device.
