Setting up FRITZ!Powerline in the Mesh
The FRITZ!Powerline adapter adds an additional wireless access point to your home network quickly and easily. This way you will have ideal Wi-Fi reception and high-speed connections to the internet and home network, even when outside the Wi-Fi range of your FRITZ!Box.
Since the FRITZ!Powerline adapter is integrated into the FRITZ! Mesh during setup, it adopts all of the Wi-Fi settings from your FRITZ!Box, such as access information and guest access, and can be used directly by all of the wireless devices in the home network.
There are several ways to connect the FRITZ!Powerline adapter with your FRITZ!Box home network. Which connection type is best depends on the FRITZ!Powerline model being used and the operational environment.
1 Connecting the FRITZ!Powerline adapter with the FRITZ!Box via powerline
A powerline connection to the FRITZ!Box makes sense if
- you want to place the FRITZ!Powerline adapter outside the Wi-Fi range of the FRITZ!Box or another repeater in the home network.
- you want to integrate a device without Wi-Fi support, for example an IPTV receiver, into the home network via a LAN port on the FRITZ!Powerline adapter.
- it should be possible to reposition the FRITZ!Powerline adapter quickly and easily if necessary.
Just follow these steps: Integrating the FRITZ!Powerline adapter into the Mesh via powerline
2 Connecting the FRITZ!Powerline adapter with the FRITZ!Box via LAN
A LAN connection to the FRITZ!Box makes sense if
- you want to place the FRITZ!Powerline adapter outside the Wi-Fi range of the FRITZ!Box or another repeater in the home network.
- it is possible to establish a LAN connection to the FRITZ!Box from where the FRITZ!Powerline adapter is being used, for example using the existing cabling in your home.
Just follow these steps: Integrating the FRITZ!Powerline adapter into the Mesh via LAN
3 Connecting the FRITZ!Powerline adapter with the FRITZ!Box via Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi connection to the FRITZ!Box makes sense if
- you want to place the FRITZ!Powerline adapter within the Wi-Fi range of the FRITZ!Box.
- you want to integrate a device without Wi-Fi support, for example an IPTV receiver, into the home network via a LAN port on the FRITZ!Powerline adapter.
Just follow these steps: Integrating the FRITZ!Powerline adapter into the Mesh via Wi-Fi
4 Connecting the FRITZ!Powerline adapter with another repeater via Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi connection to a different repeater in the home network makes sense if
- you want to extend your home network in a specific direction beyond the Wi-Fi range of the other repeater.
- the other repeater is a Mesh Repeater, regardless of whether it is a FRITZ!Powerline adapter, FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Box.
Just follow these steps: Connecting FRITZ!Powerline with the Mesh Repeater
