Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a DIGI line

To use the FRITZ!Box with DIGI, simply connect it to the fiber optic modem from DIGI and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Asking for account information

  1. Call DIGI's customer service and ask for
    1. the VLAN ID and PBit for the internet connection (DIGI normally uses VLAN ID 20 or 24 and PBit 0, 3 or 5).
    2. the account information for internet access and the login information for telephony (for example the username and password).

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Use a network cable to connect the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box to the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT), for example use the network cable included with delivery.

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password on the bottom of the device and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select "DSL or fiber optic modem" from the drop-down list "Internet connection via".
  5. Select "Other internet service provider".
  6. Enter the account information you received from DIGI in the relevant fields.
  7. Click "Change connection settings".
  8. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
  9. In the fields "VLAN ID" und "PBit", enter the data you received from DIGI.
  10. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is completed as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact DIGI.

4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "Other provider" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your telephone number without +34 (for example 911234567) by "Telephone number for registration" and "Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box".
  6. Enter the login information you received from DIGI by "Username" and "Password".
  7. Enter in the field "Registrar".
  8. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making outgoing calls.
  5. Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click on "OK" to save the settings.
