Configuring the push service in the FRITZ!Box
If you want, you can have the FRITZ!Box push service send you emails informing you about connection and usage data of your FRITZ!Powerline device, such as registrations and deregistrations with the Wi-Fi guest access. If you ever forget the password of your FRITZ!Powerline device, you can have the push service send you an email with an access link.
First of all, configure the account information for your email account in the FRITZ!Box (Mesh Master) so the push service can send emails. In the FRITZ!Mesh the Mesh Master automatically transmits the account information to the FRITZ!Powerline device. Then you can enable various push services in the user interface of the FRITZ!Powerline device that send you push service mails about certain events.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Entering email account information
- Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
- Click the "Configure Push Service" link. If the link is not shown, click on the "Sender" tab.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click on "Account Information: Additional Settings".
Note:In most cases, the FRITZ!Box automatically completes the following information. With smaller local providers, you have to enter it yourself. The required information is supplied by your email provider.
- Enter your username and the name of your email provider's SMTP server.
- If the server is not accessible on port 25, enter the port used by the server to communicate in the "Port" field, for example 587.
- If the server supports SSL, enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)".
- Enable the option "Test email sending after adopting the settings". If the option is not available, the test email will be sent automatically.
- Click "Next" or "Apply" and follow the wizard's instructions.
Now the sender for push service mail is configured and the FRITZ!Box sends a test email to your email account.
2 Enabling push services
- Click "System" in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
- Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
- Click the (Edit) button next to the push services you want to use.
- Enable the option "Push service enabled" and configure the individual push services.
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
