Setting up live images from an IP camera for FRITZ!Fon

The live image function enables you to follow what is happening in front of your IP camera (network camera, webcam) on your FRITZ!Fon. To use it, you must enter the web address (URL) of the IP camera with the keys on your FRITZ!Fon and start the live image function on your FRITZ!Fon. The camera image is then shown on the telephone's display as a sequence of images without audio.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • A FRITZ!Box with FRITZ!OS 6.20 or later is required to use the live view function.
  • The IP camera saves images in JPG/JPEG file format. FRITZ!Boxes with FRITZ!OS 6.50 or later also supports images in MJPG/MJPEG, PNG and GIF file format.
  • The IP camera makes the images available via FTP or HTTP. FRITZ!Boxes with FRITZ!OS 7.10 or later also support HTTPS.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Configuring the IP camera

  1. Configure the IP camera so that it saves images in JPEG format and makes them available on a website via HTTPS or HTTP.

Note:For the optimal display of the live image, set the resolution of the IP camera to at least 240x320 to about 480x640 pixels.
