Using convenience features with the FRITZ!DECT smart switch

Not only can the FRITZ!DECT smart switch, for example FRITZ!DECT 440, switch your smart home devices, you can also apply various convenience features with it at the touch of a button. You can switch the Wi-Fi network or the answering machine on or off, or start a telephone call, for example. These convenience features can be saved in templates and enabled at the touch of a button.

Requirements

  • You can use convenience features with a FRITZ!Box with FRITZ!OS 7.50 or later.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Registering the FRITZ!DECT smart switch

  1. If you want to register the smart switch with your FRITZ!Box, click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. If you want to register the smart switch with your FRITZ!Smart Gateway, click "Smart Home" in the user interface of your FRITZ!Smart Gateway.
  3. Click "Devices and Groups" or "Device Management" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  4. Click the "Register Device" button.
  5. Within 2 minutes: Push the "DECT" connection button on the top side until you hear a signal tone. The connection is established and the smart switch is displayed with the connection status "Connected" in the "Smart Home" menu of the FRITZ!Box user interface.

2 Defining general settings for the FRITZ!DECT smart switch

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Devices and Groups" or "Device Management" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Select the group of devices from the drop-down list.
  4. Click the (Edit) button for the smart switch.
  5. Click on the "General" tab.
  6. Under "Name", enter a name of your choice for the smart switch.
  7. Under "Push Service Settings", enable the option "Push service enabled" so that you receive an email if the battery is low, the radio connection is lost, or there are errors.
  8. Click "Apply" or "OK" to save the settings.

3 Creating a template for convenience features

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Automation" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click "Create Scene or Template".
  4. Click "Template" and then "Next".
  5. Click "Use convenience features" and then "Next".
  6. Select the desired convenience feature, for example "Start telephone call", and click "Next".
  7. Configure the desired settings and then click "Next".
  8. Enter a name for the template, for example "Calls", and click "Finished" to save the settings.

4 Defining what happens when the button is pushed

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Devices and Groups" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Select "Switch" ("Button") from the drop-down list.
  4. Click the (Edit) button for the smart switch.
  5. If you want to activate the convenience function by briefly pushing the smart switch, click on the tab named [Name of the button: short].
  6. If you want to activate the convenience function by holding down on the smart switch, click on the tab named [Name of the button: long].
  7. Enable the desired option under "Standby".
  8. Under "Select Action", select the option "Apply Smart Home Templates and Scenes action".
  9. Under "Apply Smart Home Templates", select the template with the convenience function, for example "Call".
  10. Click "Apply" to save the settings. The switching is saved.

The convenience function, for example starting a call to the defined number, is now configured for the desired button and is started as soon as you push that button.
