Cannot register a FRITZ!DECT radiator control

Registration of FRITZ!DECT 300 to the FRITZ!Box fails. After inserting the batteries into the device, "PREP" and then "INST" are shown in the display, but the DECT connection is not established after you push the DECT button on the FRITZ!Box. The symbol for the radio connection is not permanently shown in the display of the radiator control. The error message "Could not complete registration of the FRITZ! actuator" is displayed in the FRITZ!Box.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 FRITZ!Box model is not supported

FRITZ!DECT 300 and FRITZ!DECT 301 cannot be used with FRITZ!Box 7412, 7312, 7330, 7330 SL, 7360 SL, 6360 Cable, or 6810 LTE.

2 Unlocking the buttons

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Buttons and LEDs" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Keylock" tab.
  4. Disable the "Buttons locked" checkbox.
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

3 Disabling "Reduce DECT field strength"

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Disable the option "Reduce DECT field strength" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

4 Disabling "DECT Eco"

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Disable the option "DECT Eco" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

5 Enabling encryption

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Enable the option "Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)" in the section "Security".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  5. If the option was disabled, you must then restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ("System > Backup > Restart").

6 Setting a PIN

For automatic registration to work, you must set the PIN to "0000" in the FRITZ!Box user interface:

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Enter "0000" as the PIN in the section "Registration".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

7 Re-registering the radiator control

Loading the factory settings of the radiator control

  1. Push the "Menu" button on the radiator control.
  2. Select the menu item "RES" and push "OK".
  3. Wait until "OK" flashes in the display and press the "OK" button.

Establishing a DECT connection

  1. Remove the batteries from the battery compartment on the radiator control for at least 30 seconds.
  2. If the radiator control is not mounted on the radiator:
    1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
    2. Click "Device Management" in the "Smart Home" menu.
    3. Click the "Register Device" button.
    4. Within 2 minutes: Reinsert the batteries. First "PREP" and then "INST" is shown on the display of the radiator control, and the connection to the FRITZ!Box is established.
  3. If the radiator control is mounted on the radiator:
    1. Reinsert the batteries. First "PREP" and then "INST" is shown on the display of the radiator control.
    2. Push the "OK" button until "ADAP" is shown in the display. The valve adjustment is complete as soon as the preset temperature appears on the display.
    3. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface to register it with the FRITZ!Box.
      1. Click "Device Management" in the "Smart Home" menu.
      2. Click the "Register Device" button.
      3. Within 2 minutes: Push the "Menü" button on the radiator control.
        1. Use the setting wheel on the radiator control to select the menu item "FUNK" and push the "OK" button.
        2. Wait until "SUCH" flashes in the display and then push the "OK" button. The connection to the FRITZ!Box is established.

The radio connection is established as soon as the symbol for the existing radio connection appears in the display of the radiator control.
