Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID) of the FRITZ!Box
You can easily change the FRITZ!Box's Wi-Fi network name and give your Wi-Fi a unique name. In the FRITZ! Mesh, the FRITZ!Box (Mesh Master) transmits the new name for the Wi-Fi network to all Mesh Repeaters (for example FRITZ!Repeater).
Identical Wi-Fi network names must be used for both Wi-Fi networks so that the FRITZ!Box can automatically steer wireless devices to their ideal Wi-Fi network and, if necessary, also to a different wireless access point (Mesh Wi-Fi steering).
When you change the Wi-Fi network name, note that you must then reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection on all of the wireless devices.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID)
- Click "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Wi-Fi Network" ("Radio Network") in the "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") menu.
- Enter a unique name in the field "Name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID)".
- Click "Apply" to save the settings. All Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box are cleared when the new Wi-Fi network name is adopted. You must then reconfigure the Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box.
