Configuring the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box as a LAN port

By default, the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box is configured for connecting an external modem (for example a fiber optic or cable modem). If the WAN port is not used for the internet connection, for example when the FRITZ!Box is used as a DSL router or Mesh Repeater, you can also configure the WAN port as an additional LAN port and use it for the devices in the home network.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

Adjusting the WAN setting of the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface on a device that is not connected to the WAN port on the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Click "Network" in the "Home Network" menu.
  3. Click on the "Network Settings" tab.
  4. Enable the option "LAN 4" in the section "WAN setting". If the option is not shown, the FRITZ!Box establishes the internet connection via the WAN port. In this case, the WAN port cannot be configured as a LAN port.
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
