Every 12 hours, FRITZ!Box reports "Repeater registration with the access point failed: Authentication error"
Every 12 hours, the Wi-Fi connection of a Mesh Repeater (for example FRITZ!Repeater) connected to the FRITZ!Box is briefly interrupted. The message "Repeater registration with the access point failed: Authentication error" is displayed in the event log of the FRITZ!Box.
Mesh Repeater refreshes the WPA3 connection
When WPA3 encryption is used, Mesh Repeaters re-register with the FRITZ!Box every 12 hours to refresh the WPA3 encryption and thus increase the security of the Wi-Fi connection. When this happens, the FRITZ!Box may report an authentication error although no error has occurred. The Wi-Fi connection of the wireless devices connected to the Mesh Repeater is briefly interrupted when the WPA3 encryption is refreshed and is automatically re-established.
