Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a DSL line from LEW TelNet

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with LEW TelNet. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the DSL line and enter your personal account information in the FRITZ!Box user interface. If LEW TelNet provided you with the FRITZ!Box, it will be configured automatically.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Having your account information ready

  1. Have your personal account information for internet access and the login information for telephony that you received from LEW TelNet ready.

    Note:You will find the account information in the letter that LEW TelNet sent you before activating your connection. If you did not receive your account information, contact LEW TelNet.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box with your DSL line

  1. Insert the DSL cable into the "DSL" socket on the FRITZ!Box and into the socket labeled "F" on the telephone jack.

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select "more internet service providers" and "other internet service provider" from the second drop-down list.
  5. Enter the account information you received from LEW TelNet in the relevant fields.
  6. Click "Change connection settings".
  7. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
  8. Enter 7 in the field "VLAN ID".
  9. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  10. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether an internet connection can be established with the account information you entered. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact LEW TelNet.

4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "Other provider" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your telephone number including the area code (for example 030123456) by "Telephone Number for Registration".
  6. Enter your telephone number (for example 123456) by "Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box".
  7. Enter the login information you received from LEW TelNet by "Username" and "Password".
  8. Enter the registrar given to you by LEW TelNet in the field "Registrar".
  9. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making calls.
  5. Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
