Do connected telephones work when the FRITZ!Box is not plugged in?
The FRITZ!Box must be connected with the power supply, otherwise you cannot make calls with the connected telephones. If a telephone does not require its own power supply and you have a landline, you can connect the telephone directly to your landline if there is a power outage.
If you have an IP-based connection, whether you can still conduct calls when there is a power outage depends on your provider.
