Android reports that a VPN connection to the FRITZ!Box is not secure
Android reports that a VPN connection to the FRITZ!Box is not secure. One of the following messages is displayed on the smartphone or tablet, depending on the Android version used:
- "This VPN is not secure. Update to an IKEv2-VPN"
- "Connected, not secure"
- "Connected / VPN not secure"
Android labels IKEv1 as not secure
Some Android versions label IPSec VPN connections to the FRITZ!Box as not secure if they use the IKEv1 protocol. However, VPN connections to the FRITZ!Box are still safe.
If you do not want to route web requests via your FRITZ!Box but only want to access your FRITZ!Box and devices in the home network, you can also use MyFRITZ!App to establish the VPN connection. Android does not mark connections established with MyFRITZ!App as not secure.
