Using a smart home device from another manufacturer in the home network
You can also register smart home devices from other manufacturers with your FRITZ!Box, for example motion detectors, door/window contacts, smart switches, smart plugs, roller shutter motors.
The connection between the smart home device and the FRITZ!Box is established using the DECT ULE protocol HAN FUN. This allows you to register all smart home devices with the FRITZ!Box that the manufacturer has declared to be compatible with DECT ULE/HAN FUN.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
Requirements / Restrictions
- Actuators from other manufacturers, for example smart plugs, cannot be registered with the FRITZ!Box.
- Radiator controllers, for example FRITZ!DECT 302, cannot be switched via smart home devices from other manufacturers.
- A maximum of ten smart home sensors from another manufacturer can be registered with the FRITZ!Box.
1 Configuring the FRITZ!Box
In the factory settings, the FRITZ!Box is configured for use as an access point. If you changed the FRITZ!Box's DECT settings, configure the following settings:
Note:You can only change the DECT settings if a cordless telephone is registered with the FRITZ!Box.
Disabling "Reduce DECT field strength"
- Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu.
- Disable the option "Reduce DECT field strength" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
Enabling support for CAT-iq 2.0
- Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu.
- Enable the option "Support for CAT-iq 2.0-compatible devices enabled" in the section "Troubleshooting".
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
2 Registering a smart home sensor from another manufacturer with the FRITZ!Box
- Insert the battery into the smart home sensor, for example a motion detector, or push the corresponding button to establish a connection. The LED on the smart home sensor starts to flash.
- Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu.
- Click the "Register New Device" button. The smart home sensor connects with the FRITZ!Box and is then displayed in the FRITZ!Box user interface in the "Home Network > Smart Home" area, for example as "HANFUN#1".
