SMB versions supported by the FRITZ!Box

The FRITZ!Box supports version 1.0 of the network protocol SMB. The FRITZ!Box does not support versions 2 and 3 of the SMB protocol (SMB2, SMB3).

If you cannot use SMB 1.0 or do not want to, use http://fritz.nas or the FTP protocol to access the storage, for example with Cyberduck, FileZilla, or WinSCP.

If you uninstalled SMB 1.0 from your Windows computer, you can reinstall the protocol on it:

  1. Click the search symbol in the Windows task bar.
  2. Enter Control Panel in the search field and press Enter.
  3. Click "Programs" and then "Programs and Features".
  4. Click "Turn Windows features on or off".
  5. Enable the option "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support" or "SMB1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support" in the window "Windows Features" and click "OK".
  6. Click "OK".
  7. Click "Restart now" to complete the installation procedure.
