Wi-Fi guest network is not available on the Mesh Repeater

Although the Wi-Fi guest access was enabled in the FRITZ!Box (Mesh Master), it is not available with the Mesh Repeaters, for example the FRITZ!Repeater. Wireless devices only connect to the guest network when they are within the range of the Mesh Master.

Cause

  • The Mesh Repeater does not adopt the guest access of the Mesh Master if the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network is disabled on the Mesh Master.

1 Enabling both Wi-Fi networks of the Mesh Master

If you enable both Wi-Fi networks on the Mesh Master, the Mesh Repeater adopts the guest network:

  1. Click "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") in the user interface of the Mesh Master.
  2. Click "Wi-Fi Network" ("Radio Network") in the "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") menu.
  3. Enable the Wi-Fi network for the 2.4 and the 5 GHz frequency bands. If the Wi-Fi networks are not displayed separately, enable the Advanced View first.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
