Configuring the push service in the FRITZ!Box
If you want, you can have the push service send you emails informing you about connection and usage data of your FRITZ!Box, such as incoming or missed calls, new answering machine messages, the status of your smart home devices or registrations and deregistrations with the Wi-Fi guest access. If you ever forget the password of your FRITZ!Box, you can have the push service send you an email with an access link. You can also have a backup file with your settings sent to you automatically before each FRITZ!OS update.
First of all, configure the account information for your email account so the push service can send emails. Then you can enable various push services that send you push service mails about certain events.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Entering email account information
- Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
- Click on the "Sender" tab.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click "Account Information - Additional Settings".
Note:In most cases, the FRITZ!Box automatically completes the following information. With smaller local providers, you have to enter it yourself. The required information is supplied by your email provider.
- Enter your email username and the name of your email provider's SMTP server.
- If the server is not accessible on port 25, enter the port used by the server to communicate in the "Port" field, for example 587.
- If the server supports SSL, enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)".
- If you want, you can enter a recipient email address, a sender name, and a personalized subject.
- Enable the option "Test email sending after adopting the settings".
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
Now the sender for push service mail is configured and the FRITZ!Box sends a test email to your email account.
2 Enabling push services
- Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
- Click the (Edit) button next to the push services you want to use.
- Enable the option "Email dispatch enabled" and configure the desired push services. If you want to have the push service mail sent to several email addresses, separate the email addresses by commas and do not add spaces between them.
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
