Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Vodafone line

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Vodafone. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and configure the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Either connect the FRITZ!Box to the DSL line or use the "LAN 1" port to connect the FRITZ!Box with the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.

2 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Account Information" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Select "other internet service provider" from the drop-down list.
  4. Enable the option "Connection to a DSL line" in the "Connect via" area. If you are using the FRITZ!Box with a fiber optic connection, enable the option "Connection to an external modem or router" and then "Establish own connection to the internet".
  5. Enter vodafonedsl in the "Username" field.
  6. Enter vodafonedsl in the "Password" field.
  7. Click "Change Connection Settings".
  8. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on an ADSL line:
    1. Enable the option "Set manually" in the "DSL ATM Settings" section.
    2. Enter 10 in the field "VPI" and 36 in the field "VCI".
    3. Enable the option "PPPoE".
  9. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a VDSL or fiber optic connection:
    1. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
    2. Enter 1036 in the field "VLAN ID".
  10. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is completed as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Vodafone.
