Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a VOO line

To use the FRITZ!Box with a VOO line, simply connect it to the cable modem from VOO and configure the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, television (VOO TV+), and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Important:Currently, we do not have any information about how to configure the telephone numbers from VOO in the FRITZ!Box. However, if your cable modem from VOO has a socket for analog telephones and it is enabled, you can connect your FRITZ!Box to this socket and make calls over it.

1 Connecting a cable modem

  1. Either connect the cable modem to the first multimedia socket or to the socket that the cable technician used for the original installation. Only use the coaxial cable (without an extension) provided by the cable technician to connect it.

2 Configuring the cable modem

  1. Enable the so-called bridge mode for the cable modem from VOO. Refer to the guide Activer ou désactiver le mode bridge du modem VOO for instructions.

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
  3. If the wizard for internet access does not start automatically, click "Wizards" and then "Configure the Internet Connection".

  4. Select "existing connection over WAN" from the drop-down list.
  5. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions. The wizard guides you through the configuration of the internet connection and indicates when to use a network cable to connect the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box to "Port 1" on the cable modem.
  6. Now the FRITZ!Box establishes its internet connection over the cable modem. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

Important:If the internet connection cannot be established, your cable connection may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact VOO.

4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

The following steps are only necessary if the cable modem has a port to which you can connect analog telephony devices and it is enabled:

Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Plug the longer end of the DSL/telephone cable ("Y cable") included with delivery into the socket labeled "DSL" on the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Plug the black plug on the split end directly into a telephone port on the cable modem or use the black TAE/RJ45 adapter included with delivery.

Important:With the FRITZ!Box, you can use only one of the ports for telephones. You can connect an additional telephony device, for example a telephone, to the second port on the cable modem. If the plug on the DSL/telephone cable does not fit into the port on the cable modem, refer to your cable provider for a suitable adapter.

Enabling the landline settings

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click on the "Line Settings" tab.
  4. Enable the option "Landline enabled".
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Entering a telephone number

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Enable the option "Landline number".
  5. Enable the option "one landline number (analog line)" and click "Next".

Important:You are only asked to select the type of landline (analog or ISDN line) when you configure the first landline number. If you want to change the connection type later, you must delete all of the landline numbers you configured first.

  6. Enter your telephone number and click "Next".

Note:It may be possible to use both lines of your cable modem with a FRITZ!Box. For further information, refer to your cable provider directly.
