Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Tiscali line
The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Tiscali. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and enter your personal account information in the FRITZ!Box user interface. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Having your account information ready
- Have your personal account information for internet access that you received from Tiscali ready.
Note:Tiscali sent you the account information via email after you concluded the contract with them. If you did not receive your account information, contact Tiscali.
2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box
- Either connect the FRITZ!Box to the DSL line or use the "WAN" port to connect the FRITZ!Box with the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.
3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box
- Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
- If the wizard for internet access does not start automatically, click "Wizards" and then "Configure the Internet Connection".
- Enable the option "Use DSL/WAN for internet connection" and click "Next".
- Select "Tiscali" from the drop-down list.
- If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a DSL line, select "Tiscali" and click "Next".
- If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a fiber optic connection (FTTH), select "Tiscali FTTH" and click "Next" and then "Next" again.
- Enter the account information you received from Tiscali in the fields.
- Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.
- Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether an internet connection can be established with the account information you entered. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.
Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Tiscali.
4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box
To configure the telephone numbers, contact Tiscali's customer service as described in this guide. The customer service will then automatically configure the telephone numbers in the FRITZ!Box.
If Tiscali gave you the login information for telephony, you can also configure your telephone numbers manually:
Configuring telephone numbers
- Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
- Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
- If shown, enable the option "Internet telephone number" and click "Next".
- Select "Tiscali" from the drop-down list.
- Enter your telephone number including the area code by "Internet telephone number" (for example 0039061234567).
- Enter your telephone number including the area code (for example 0039061234567) by "User name".
- In the "Password" field, enter the password that Tiscali gave you.
- In the "Proxy server" field, enter the proxy server that Tiscali gave you (for example srvrm.p.ims.tiscali.net).
- Click "Next" and disable the option "Check configuration of the internet telephone number after 'Apply' has been clicked".
- Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.
Adjusting the account Information for the telephone numbers
- Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
- Click the (Edit) button for the respective internet telephone number.
- Select "other provider" from the drop-down list.
- Enter your telephone number without 0039 (for example 061234567) by "Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box".
- Enter your telephone number including the area code followed by @ims.tiscali.net (for example 0039061234567@ims.tiscali.net) by "Username".
- Enter ims.tiscali.net in the field "Registrar".
- Click "Additional Settings" to display all of the settings.
- Enable the option "Use telephone number for registration".
- Enable the option "Provider does not support REGISTER-fetch".
- Click "OK" to save the settings.
Assigning telephone numbers
- Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
- Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.
Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.
- From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making calls.
- Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
