Using the contacts of an online provider
You can set up several telephone books in the FRITZ!Box and then use a separate one for each of your FRITZ!Fons. You can either save new telephone books in the FRITZ!Box, or you can use the telephone book of an online provider, for example Google, Apple, 1&1, GMX or WEB.DE, a CardDAV provider, or a local CardDAV server. In this case, the telephone book in the FRITZ!Box is then synchronized with the telephone book of the provider at regular intervals so there is no need for double administration.
Requirements / Restrictions
- The telephone book may contain up to 1000 entries. However, if you have several hundred entries, it may take longer to open the user interface and navigation could be slowed down noticeably.
- Contact pictures cannot be added to online telephone books in the FRITZ!Box. Instead, the pictures assigned to contacts in the online telephone books are displayed.
- An 1&1 telephone book can only be used if the corresponding email address belongs to a DSL or mobile phone contract. Addresses from web hosting contracts cannot be used.
- Online telephone books cannot be set up if the FRITZ!Box is configured as a Mesh Repeater and it adopts the telephone book from the Mesh Master. In this case, set up the telephone book in the Mesh Master.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

2 Synchronizing the telephone book
Synchronizing automatically
The telephone book in the FRITZ!Box is synchronized with the telephone book of your email account on a regular basis. Synchronization takes place automatically every 24 hours around midnight. The following happens during synchronization:
- New telephone book entries you created in the FRITZ!Box or on the website of your email provider are adopted into the telephone book at the other location.
- Changes you made to telephone book entries in the FRITZ!Box or on the website of your email provider are adopted into the telephone book at the other location.
- Telephone book entries you deleted on the website of your email provider are deleted from the FRITZ!Box telephone book as well.
- Only if you are using Google Contacts: Telephone book entries you deleted in the FRITZ!Box are also deleted from your Google Contacts.
Note:With other email providers, you can only delete telephone entries directly on the provider's website.

- Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Telephone Book" in the "Telephony" menu.
- Switch to the telephone book of your online provider.
