Using an Android smartphone or tablet in the FRITZ! home network

You can easily connect an Android smartphone or tablet to the Wi-Fi network of the FRITZ!Box. Then the device can access the internet and use additional functions of the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the smartphone or tablet with the home network

Note:You can also use FRITZ!App Wi-Fi to establish the Wi-Fi connection by pointing the camera on the device at the QR code found under "Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Channel" ("Wireless > Radio Network") in the user interface.

  1. Open the "Settings" on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Tap "Network & Internet" in the "Settings".
  3. Tap "Internet".
  4. If Wi-Fi is switched off, tap the "On / Off" symbol.
  5. Tap the connection that displays the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) of the FRITZ!Box. If the FRITZ!Box's Wi-Fi network is not displayed, follow the steps in our guide FRITZ!Box's Wi-Fi network cannot be found.

    Note:If necessary, you can determine the Wi-Fi network name and Wi-Fi network key of the FRITZ!Box as described in our guide Setting up a Wi-Fi connection to the FRITZ!Box.

  6. Enter the FRITZ!Box's Wi-Fi network key in the "Password" field and tap "Connect".
  7. Now the Wi-Fi connection is established and the Android device can access the internet using the FRITZ!Box.

2 Using the FRITZ!Box with a smartphone or tablet

Accessing the FRITZ!Box when you are away from home

If you want to securely access your FRITZ!Box over the internet when you are away from home:

  1. Set up MyFRITZ!App.

Setting up a VPN connection to the FRITZ!Box

If you want to establish a securely encrypted network connection (VPN, Virtual Private Network) to your FRITZ!Box and devices in the home network over the internet when you are away from home:

  1. Use either WireGuard or IPSec to configure the VPN connection to the FRITZ!Box.
