The FRITZ!Box's WLAN LED flashes

The FRITZ!Box's WLAN LED flashes continuously. Wireless devices cannot establish a Wi-Fi connection to the FRITZ!Box and one of the following error messages is displayed in the event log of the FRITZ!Box:

  • "The Wi-Fi module was not initialized correctly. Please restart the FRITZ!Box! (#0101)"
  • "The Wi-Fi module was not initialized correctly. Please restart the FRITZ!Box! (#0102)"
  • "The Wi-Fi module was not initialized correctly. Please restart the FRITZ!Box! (#02EA)"
  • "The Wi-Fi module was not initialized correctly. Please restart the FRITZ!Box! (#0E01)"

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Unplug the FRITZ!Box for 5 minutes.

    Note:The FRITZ!Box settings are retained when you unplug it. After you plug the FRITZ!Box in again, it takes about 2 minutes for it to restart. During this time, you cannot access the FRITZ!Box.

2 Using the correct power adapter

Using an unsuitable power adapter for the FRITZ!Box is one of the most common causes of error:

  1. Use a suitable power adapter to plug in your FRITZ!Box.

3 Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

Perform the following steps with another device connected to the FRITZ!Box with a network cable:

Important:If you cannot access the FRITZ!Box with any device, proceed as described in the guide FRITZ!Box user interface cannot be opened.

  1. Install the latest FRITZ!OS on the FRITZ!Box.

4 Setting Wi-Fi channel settings automatically

Incorrect Wi-Fi settings can prevent the FRITZ!Box from properly initializing the Wi-Fi network:

  1. Click "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Wi-Fi Channel" ("Radio Channel") in the "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Set Wi-Fi channel settings automatically (recommended)".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings. Now Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box are briefly cleared and then automatically re-established.

5 Loading the factory settings

  1. Load the FRITZ!Box's factory settings.

The FRITZ!Box restarts after the factory settings are loaded. Check whether the WLAN LED still continuously flashes after the restart. If the problem was solved, reconfigure your FRITZ!Box.
