Setting up the FRITZ!Box for use with a Telenet cable connection

The FRITZ!Box Cable is optimally prepared for use with a Telenet cable connection. Have Telenet activate the FRITZ!Box, then connect it to the multimedia outlet and configure the internet connection.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, multimedia, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Important:Currently, Telenet telephone numbers cannot be used with the FRITZ!Box. The FRITZ!Box uses the common protocol SIP for internet telephony, but Telenet uses the standard EuroPacketCable 1.5.

1 Activating the FRITZ!Box

  1. Log into Telenet's activation portal with the login ID that you received from Telenet.
  2. For this, enter the serial number and MAC address of the cable modem you received from Telenet.

  3. For this, enter the serial number and MAC address of your FRITZ!Box's cable modem (CM MAC). You can find these on the FRITZ!Box's type label.
  4. Telenet will notify you when your cable connection is set up for the use of your own terminal devices. This can take up to 5 business days.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Insert one end of the coaxial cable into the "Cable" port on the FRITZ!Box. Use the coaxial cable supplied with the FRITZ!Box, for example.
  2. Insert the other end of the coaxial cable into the socket for the internet connection (data socket) on the multimedia outlet in your home.

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
  3. If the menu "Set up Internet Connection" is not displayed automatically:
    1. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
    2. Enable the option "Internet connection via cable".
  4. Wait until the "Power / Cable" LED remains lit. Depending on the signal strength and the way your connection is configured, this may take up to 10 minutes.

    Important:If the "Power / Cable" LED flashes continuously, the cable connection has not been activated yet or the service is disrupted. In this case, contact Telenet.

  5. Click "Apply" or "Next" to save the settings. Restart the FRITZ!Box to complete the configuration of your internet connection.
