Cordless telephone cannot play all ring tones from the FRITZ!Box

A cordless telephone from another manufacturer is registered with the FRITZ!Box. Although you can select up to eight different ring tones for the telephone in the FRITZ!Box user interface, the telephone does not accept some of these ring tones.

Examples:
The telephone uses the same ring tone for the settings "Asia", "Andante", and "News".
Only the "Standard" ring tone can be used with the telephone. If you select a different ring tone, you only hear continuous ringing or no ringing at all.

1 Cordless telephone does not comply with the DECT standard

You can assign up to eight different ring tones for cordless telephones in the FRITZ!Box user interface. How many and which ring tones the telephone can actually use depends on the telephone itself. In accordance with the DECT standard, the FRITZ!Box does not transmit the selected ring tone to the telephone, it transmits a specific value instead. The telephone determines how it interprets this value and which ring tone can be heard. As a result, you may only be able to select the "Standard" ring tone for a particular telephone in the FRITZ!Box user interface, for example. If you select a different ring tone, you only hear continuous ringing or no ringing at all.

Testing ring tones

You can use the ring tone test to check which ring tones your telephone can play:

  4. Click on the "Ring Tones" tab.
  5. Select different ring tones one after the other from the drop-down list "Ring tone test" and click "Test".
