Using geofencing with FRITZ!App Smart Home

Geofencing allows you to automatically switch your smart home devices depending on your location. All you need is a smartphone with FRITZ!App Smart Home. In the app, you can define geographical zones that apply certain templates, scenes or routines when you enter or leave them.

For example, your radiator automatically starts to heat and the Wi-Fi network is enabled when you enter a zone around your home. Or when you leave your home, all smart home devices are automatically switched off to save energy.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • iOS 17.0 or later or Android 9 or later is installed on the smartphone or tablet.
  • Location access must be permanently active for FRITZ!App Smart Home in the settings of your smartphone or tablet.

1 Installing FRITZ!App Smart Home

  1. Install FRITZ!App Smart Home.

Geofencing with FRITZ!App Smart Home: Creating a sequence
  1. Start FRITZ!App Smart Home.
  2. Tap the menu symbol on the top and then tap "Geofencing".
  3. Tap "Create New Sequence".
  4. Enter a name for the new sequence, for example "at home".
  5. Select the zone where this sequence should be triggered. To do this, move the map until the center of the blue zone covers the desired location and define the radius.
  6. Select the trigger for the sequence, for example "When Entering Zone".
  7. Tap "Next".
  8. Select the template, scene or routine that should be applied or enabled when you enter or leave the zone.
  9. Tap "Next" and then "Finished".

Now the template, scene, or routine is automatically applied as soon as you enter or leave the desired zone with your smartphone.
