Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Fonira line

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Fonira. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection, select Fonira as the internet service provider in the FRITZ!Box, and set up telephony. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Connect the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box with the LAN port of the DSL or fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.

2 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password on the bottom of the device and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select "Forina" from the drop-down list "Internet connection via" and enable the correct connection type.
  5. If you received account information from Fonira, enter the account information in the relevant fields.
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is completed as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Fonira.

3 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Having your login information ready

  1. Have the login information for telephony that you received from Fonira ready.

    Note:Fonira sent you the login information via email after you concluded the contract with them. If you did not receive your login information, contact Fonira.

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "fonira IP-Festnetz" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your telephone number including the area code (for example 011234567) by "Telephone Number".
  6. For the "Password", enter the password you received from Fonira.
  7. Enter your area code by "Area code" (for example 01).
  8. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making outgoing calls.
  5. Select the numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "OK" to save the settings.
