Type and number of USB devices that can be connected to the FRITZ!Box
You can connect various USB devices such as printers or storage devices to the USB 2.0 port on the FRITZ!Box. The functions of these devices are then available in the FRITZ!Box home network.
1 Supported USB device classes
The FRITZ!Box supports USB devices from the following device classes:
- USB storage device
Note:The FRITZ!Box supports USB storage devices with a maximum of four partitions formatted to the NTFS, exFAT, FAT/FAT32, and ext2/ext3/ext4 file systems. Each partition may be up to 4 terabytes in size.
- Mobile network dongle (LTE/UMTS/HSPA)
Note:Instead of a mobile network dongle, you can also use the mobile internet connection of an Android smartphone (USB tethering).
- USB printer
- USB hub
2 Total number of USB devices
If you use a USB hub, you can connect up to four USB devices (not including the USB hub) to the FRITZ! Box at the same time, including a maximum of one USB printer and a mobile network dongle.
The FRITZ!Box treats all-in-one devices as several separate USB devices. A printer with an integrated memory card reader is recognized as a USB printer and a USB storage device, for example.
For instance, you can use the following USB devices with the FRITZ!Box:
- four USB storage devices
- three USB storage devices and one USB printer
- two USB storage devices, one USB printer, and one mobile network dongle
Important:The FRITZ!Box can only supply one USB device with power. If you want to use more than one USB device without its own power supply, use a USB hub with its own power supply (active USB hub) to connect the device to the FRITZ!Box.
3 Supported USB standards
USB devices that comply with the following USB standards can be used with the FRITZ!Box:
- USB 3.0 (if the device does not require more than 500 mA as allowed by USB 2.0)
Note:USB 3.0 devices function according to USB 2.0 when connected to the FRITZ!Box.
- USB 2.0
- USB 1.1
