Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Virgin Telco line
To use the FRITZ!Box with Virgin Telco, simply connect it to the fiber optic modem from Virgin Telco and configure the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.
Important:Currently, we do not have any information about how to use Virgin Telco's telephony function with the FRITZ!Box. As soon as we find out, we will update this guide.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Asking for account information
- Call Virgin Telco's customer service and ask for the VLAN ID and PBit for the internet connection.
Note:In its own fiber optic network, Virgin Telco uses VLAN ID 10 and PBit 0. VLAN ID 20 or 24 and PBit 0, 3 or 5 is used for NEBA fiber optic connections (Telefónica de España).
2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box
- Insert one end of a network cable into the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box. Use the network cable supplied with the FRITZ!Box, for example.
- Insert the other end of the network cable into the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination).
3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box
- Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
- Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
- Select "DSL or fiber optic modem" from the drop-down list "Internet connection via".
- Select "other internet service provider".
- Enable the option "No" in the section "Account Information".
- Click "Change connection settings".
- Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
- In the fields "VLAN ID" und "PBit", enter the data provided by Virgin Telco.
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
- Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.
Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Virgin Telco.
