Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Dimensione line

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Dimensione. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Use a network cable to connect the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box to the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination) or the fixed wireless access connection (FWA). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.

2 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select "DSL or fiber optic modem" from the drop-down list "Internet connection via".
  5. Select "other internet service provider".
  6. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a fiber optic connection (FTTH) or a hybrid fixed wireless access connection (FWA) with data rates greater than 100 Mbit/s:
    1. Enter the account information you received from Dimensione in the relevant fields.
    2. Enter the speeds of your internet connection in the "Downstream" and "Upstream" fields.
    3. Click "Change connection settings".
    4. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access" and enter 835 in the field "VLAN ID".
  7. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a hybrid fixed wireless access connection (FWA) with data rates of 100 Mbit/s or less:
    1. Enable the option "No" in the section "Account Information".
    2. Enter the speeds of your internet connection in the "Downstream" and "Upstream" fields.
  8. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  9. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Dimensione.

3 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "Other provider" from the drop-down list.
  5. By "Telephone number for registration", enter the username that you received from Dimensione.
  6. Enter your telephone number without +39 (for example 061234567) by "Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box".
  7. Enter the login information you received from Dimensione by "Username" and "Password".
  8. Enter voip.dimensione.com in the field "Registrar".
  9. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Adjusting the telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective internet telephone number.
  4. Enable the option "Provider does not support REGISTER-fetch".
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making calls.
  5. Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
