Three advantages of fiber optics

The future belongs to fiber optics. The data is transmitted by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber, making it extremely fast and efficient. What advantages does fiber offer? Here are three reasons.

1) Fiber optics for maximum speed

From fast to super fast: A fiber optic connection is available at many speed levels, from 100 Mbit/s for low-users to a flat gigabit per second for families to an extremely fast 10 gigabits/s for that extra portion of high speed. But do I need it?

From streaming and the cloud to gaming: the need for bandwidth is increasing and increasing and increasing. Today's game downloads can be over 100 gigabytes, so you either need patience or a fast fiber optic connection.

Uploads with fiber optic are unrivaled when it comes to speed: Upload a video from your vacation or a photo album and share it with friends? Record and stream your gameplay? Or you just have a full day of video calls when you're working from home? With fiber, slow uploads and stuttering streams are a thing of the past. Benefit from the once inconceivable speed potential of a fiber optic connection.

2) Interference-free data transmission

Fast is good, no interferences is better. Fiber optics is both good and better. Data is transmitted from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber and is therefore particularly robust against external influences such as electromagnetic interference. Even long-distance lines make little difference with fiber optics; it's always lightning fast and robust for an excellent internet connection.

3) The future is fiber

Other technologies can also achieve one gigabit per second, but the technical limits are sometimes in sight.

Fiber, on the other hand, is only at the beginning: A fiber optic connection is future-proof and built to last, because once the fiber optic cable has been laid, connections of up to 10 Gbit/s can be realized with AON, GPON or XGS-PON, and even faster standards can be retrofitted at a later date on the same fiber optic cable.

Fiber with FRITZ!

What is the best fit for your fiber optic connection? A FRITZ!Box, of course, directly connected to the fiber optic outlet, not to the ONT.
