FRITZ!Box 7690 impresses with very high Wi-Fi speed in first tests
AVM Content
The Computer Bild, Connect and PC Welt publications have rigorously tested the FRITZ!Box 7690 and come to a clear verdict. Computer Bild and Connect give the FRITZ!Box 7690 the top rating of "very good", while PC Welt gives it 4 out of 5 stars as well as naming it "Editor’s Pick".
Computer Bild: 7690 easily outperforms 7590 AX
"Thanks to the speed boost from Wi-Fi 7, the FRITZ!Box 7690 easily outperforms its predecessor, the 7590 AX, when it comes to Wi-Fi measurements. Even without a 6 GHz radio unit, AVM's newcomer performed well in the test." Computer Bild also praised the low power consumption, support for Zigbee and the versatile functions.
Connect: A worthy successor
"Many of its features are top of class: With two 2.5 gigabit Ethernet ports, the 7690 meets modern multi-gigabit requirements. And unlike the Wi-Fi 7 pioneer 6670, whose Wi-Fi was limited to 2x2 MIMO, the 7690 comes with 4x4 MIMO." The high-performance hardware platform, support for Zigbee and the range of features were also very well received by Connect's editorial team.
PC Welt: On course for the future with 2.5 gigabit LAN
"The FRITZ!Box 7690 almost always delivers very high Wi-Fi speeds - especially in close proximity, it clearly outperforms Wi-Fi 6 routers such as the 7590 AX. It is also faster than its predecessor over longer distances in most cases. Depending on environmental factors, the speed advantage can be increased by manually selecting the channel." The editors also highlight the excellent features, such as the 2.5 gigabit LAN port and Zigbee support.
