The FRITZ!Smart Gateway gets even smarter with Matter

With the FRITZ!OS 7.63 update, which is available from today, the FRITZ!Smart Gateway is now compatible with Matter This gives users of FRITZ! products a powerful bridge that supports Matter in the smart home. As an open connectivity standard, Matter enables the seamless networking and control of smart home devices from a wide range of manufacturers and opens up completely new integration possibilities for smart devices. Whether FRITZ!Smart devices or compatible HAN FUN and Zigbee devices, whether registered directly on the FRITZ!Smart Gateway or on the FRITZ!Box - the FRITZ!Smart Gateway seamlessly and completely integrates the FRITZ! Smart Home into an existing Matter network. In the future, the FRITZ!Smart smart plugs will be able to be switched using Matter-compatible motion sensors. Users will be able to control their FRITZ!Smart radiator controls by voice commands with Alexa, Siri or Hey Google. Whether "Siri, set the radiator control to 20 degrees" or "Hey Google, turn on the light" – controlling the smart home is getting more intuitive and more versatile. The FRITZ!Smart Gateway now acts as a Matter Bridge, meaning selected FRITZ!Smart devices and compatible devices (such as HAN FUN and Zigbee devices) can be controlled in conjunction with a Matter Controller. More FRITZ! Smart Home products will be added in the future. The following equipment is required for the setup:

  • FRITZ!Box
  • FRITZ!Smart Gateway
  • FRITZ!Smart, HAN FUN or Zigbee device
  • A Matter controller (a smart hub e.g. Amazon Alexa, Apple Home or Google Home)

A new name, the same quality: FRITZ!DECT becomes FRITZ!Smart.
