Berlin | AVM, a leading provider of products for the digital home, welcomes Jan Oetjen as its new CEO. From Monday September 30, Jan Oetjen will take over the helm of the company, succeeding former CEO and Spokesman of the Management Board Johannes Nill. The new management team is made up of Chief Executive Officer Jan Oetjen, former Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Peter Faxel and Jan-Christian Werner as Chief Financial Officer.
With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, most recently as CEO of 1&1 Mail & Media Applications SE, Oetjen (51) has amassed a wealth of expertise in strategic management and technological topics. Among other things, Oetjen was charged with the management of email providers Web.de and GMX as well as advertising marketer United Media. Under his leadership, the United Internet companies were able to expand their leading market position and drive forward numerous innovations.
“I am very much looking forward to taking over the management of AVM and continuing the company’s success story together with the proven team”, says Oetjen. “Innovation, harnessing our market leadership in Germany and strengthening our international potential to a greater extent will be our key goals. As a European company, AVM stands for secure and reliable products for the interconnected world, and we will continue to expand this position.”
Former CEO Johannes Nill is also positive about the future: “It is a great pleasure for me to hand over the management of the company to Jan Oetjen. With his vision and experience, he will lead AVM to new heights as an innovative and technology-oriented company. I am also delighted that we have found an experienced CFO in Jan-Christian Werner.” Jan-Christian Werner (49) was previously CFO of the SaaS travel tech and online travel platform company HRS Group.
AVM, founded in Berlin in 1986 by Johannes Nill, Ulrich Müller-Albring and Peter Faxel, has been one of the most successful European players in products for broadband connections and the digital home for decades. Under the FRITZ! brand, AVM offers fast internet access, easy networking, powerful Wi-Fi, convenient telephony and versatile Smart Home applications. AVM is one of the market leaders in Europe for routers, Wi-Fi repeaters and Smart Home products. The company has focused on in-house developments for innovative products from the very beginning. In 2023, the Berlin-based communications specialist and its 890 employees generated a turnover of EUR 580 million.
As part of a planned generational change, Imker Capital Partners, a European family office, was recently acquired as a new investor. The founders will remain with the company as minority shareholders, while Johannes Nill and Ulrich Müller-Albring will move to the advisory board. The new management team consists of CEO Jan Oetjen, former CTO Peter Faxel and CFO Jan-Christian Werner.
