Premiere: FRITZ!Box 7690 – a performance boost on DSL connections

With the FRITZ!Box 7690, AVM is introducing the new DSL flagship that sets new standards in terms of speed, performance and versatility. The FRITZ!Box 7690 can be used in all DSL networks and achieves speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s on the connection. The DSL top model supports the new Wi-Fi 7 at 5 and 2.4 GHz and, thanks to the 4x4 configuration, transmits via eight antennas. For ultra-fast browsing, streaming and gaming, the FRITZ!Box 7690 achieves Wi-Fi speeds of up to 7.2 Gbit/s, which is double the performance of the previous model. The new model also has a lot to offer when it comes to wired networking: two 2.5-gigabit LAN ports, one of which can be used as a WAN port, for example for connecting to a fiber optic modem, while two 1-Gbit/s LAN ports ensure a fast and reliable connection to other devices in the network. The powerful hardware with a multi-core processor also enables accelerated processing of data packets, which significantly improves the efficiency and response speed of the FRITZ!Box 7690. Thanks to the large storage capacity, the router is ideally equipped for future feature updates. The FRITZ!Box 7690 also has a lot to offer when it comes to VPN performance. With WireGuard it achieves a six-fold increase, while with IPsec VPN connections are around three times faster. With the FRITZ!Box 7690 users have even more options in the Smart Home. The new DSL model supports the smart FRITZ!DECT products, as well as Zigbee, meaning many Smart Home devices from other manufacturers, such as LED lights, can be integrated into users' homes. In addition, the FRITZ!Box 7690 is prepared for Matter. Equipped with features typical to FRITZ!Box, including extensive telephony features such as call forwarding and answering machines as well as FRITZ!OS with firewall, parental controls and Wi-Fi guest access, the FRITZ!Box 7690 leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to DSL connections. The range of features makes the FRITZ!Box 7690 the ideal choice for private users and small offices or branches that rely on secure and reliable connections. The FRITZ!Box 7690 market launch is planned for this summer.

AVM will also be showcasing the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro in Cologne, which can be used on both fiber optic and DSL connections thanks to its integrated modems. It achieves top speeds of up to 2.5 Gbit/s on fiber optics and up to 300 Mbit/s on DSL connections. To ensure that wireless browsing, streaming, gaming and more continue to run quickly and smoothly in the future, the new FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro offers very powerful tri-band Mesh including 6 GHz, the new third frequency band for use in Wi-Fi. The new FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro supports the current Wi-Fi 6 wireless standard at 2.4 GHz as well as next-generation Wi-Fi 7 at 5 and 6 GHz, with improvements in latency, speed and throughput. Up to 18.5 GBit/s can be achieved via a total of 12 antennas. In addition to this Wi-Fi power, the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro also impresses with its wired networking. It has a 2.5-gigabit LAN/WAN port and four 1-GBit/s LAN ports. The high-end model also offers huge flexibility in the Smart Home. Together with a comprehensive telephone system and integrated answering machines, firewall, guest Wi-Fi, parental controls and much more, the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro is the ultimate all-rounder in the digital home of private users and for small offices and branches. It also scores points with its improved VPN performance: VPN connections via IPsec are around twice as fast as with previous models, while an increase of up to 20 percent can be achieved with WireGuard. Thanks to its powerful hardware with a multi-core processor, the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro offers outstanding performance and speed with energy-efficient use and is well equipped for future updates thanks to its high storage capacity. The FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro not only offers users maximum performance and speed on a fiber optic or DSL connection, but also a range of features that meet future requirements for energy efficiency, networking options and Smart Home integration. The FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro market launch is planned for this summer.

FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS: 10 gigabit/s for fiber optic connections

Network providers who already use XGS-PON fiber optic technology can find out more about the performance of the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS at this year's ANGA COM. With an impressive 10 gigabit/s thanks to the integrated modem, AVM is setting new standards for ultra-fast fiber internet with the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS. Thanks to powerful Wi-Fi 7 in a 4x4 configuration, a 10-gigabit LAN port, and the full range of telephony, Smart Home, and networking features familiar from FRITZ!Box, it is the fiber gateway for all digital applications at home.

FRITZ!Box 7682 – gigabit speed with Wi-Fi 7 for DSL internet

Where the fiber optic network reaches the basement of an apartment building or residential complex, the challenge is to bring the high speeds into the home network. AVM has developed the new FRITZ!Box 7682 for precisely this scenario. The new DSL model supports G.fast for connections with up to 1 Gbit/s and 35b supervectoring for up to 300 Mbit/s. This means that the high fiber optic speed reaches the apartment via the existing copper lines. With powerful Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6, a telephone system, Smart Home features and the familiar versatile networking options, the FRITZ!Box 7682 is the ideal connection between fiber optic cables and traditional copper telephone lines.

New: more possibilities with FRITZ! Mesh

At the trade fair, AVM will demonstrate to network providers and companies how they can centrally manage FRITZ! products. Thanks to the TR-069 technical specification and Mesh technology, which are based on internationally accepted standards, FRITZ!Box can also be used for backend and cloud-based Wi-Fi management. AVM is also presenting more options in the FRITZ! Mesh: A FRITZ!Box connected to the internet and a FRITZ!Repeater form a powerful Mesh system that allows users to flexibly extend Wi-Fi range as required. A new feature is the Mesh Master function for FRITZ!Repeaters, which can be used to create a flexibly scalable Mesh system in existing networks, independent of the router. AVM will be demonstrating such a Mesh extension with three FRITZ!Repeater 3000 AX, with one of the repeaters taking on the function of Mesh Master.

Smart Home with DECT ULE, Zigbee and the Matter standard

All new FRITZ! products offer a comprehensive Smart Home experience via the established DECT ULE standard. A variety of energy, heating and lighting activities can be controlled intelligently and in an energy-efficient manner using the FRITZ!App Smart Home. The FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro, FRITZ!Box 7690 and 6670 Cable also support Zigbee and are prepared for the Matter standard. Users therefore have a wide range of smart application options and possibilities without the need for an additional Smart Home hub.
