At this year's MWC in Barcelona, the Berlin-based communications specialist AVM is presenting new FRITZ! products for what it's focusing on in 2023: Fiber and DSL in one FRITZ!Box, 10 gigabit/s at fiber optic connections, fast internet at home with 5G, Wi-Fi 7 with tri-band Mesh at 6 GHz, as well as a versatile Smart Home with the DECT ULE and Zigbee standards, and the new Matter standard. From 27 February to 2 March, AVM will be showing the first FRITZ! products for these key areas in hall 7, stand E35.

High performance directly at the connection: With the new FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro, AVM combines fiber optics and DSL in one device for the first time. This combination enables fast and future-proof internet access and offers flexibility for regions where fiber has yet to be rolled out. In addition, the new FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro offers very powerful tri-band Mesh including 6 GHz, the new third Wi-Fi frequency band. The new FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro supports the current Wi-Fi 6 wireless standard as well as Wi-Fi 7, the next generation in Wi-Fi, with improvements in latency, speed and throughput. This combination will continue to enable powerful wireless communication for real-time applications such as cloud computing, virtual reality, and gaming in the future. The FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro in a new, upright design offers another highlight for the Smart Home: In addition to DECT ULE, it also has the Zigbee wireless standard on board and is prepared for Matter - for more smart applications at home.

With the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS, AVM is presenting an ultra-fast fiber optic FRITZ!Box. It is a real powerhouse and achieves speeds of up to 10 gigabit/s in fiber optic networks with the XGS-PON standard. With powerful Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6, a 10 gigabit WAN/LAN port, and the full range of telephony, Smart Home, and networking features familiar from FRITZ!Box, it is the fiber gateway for all digital applications at home. In addition to DECT ULE it also supports Zigbee and is compatible with the Matter standard.

Surf and stream at home at lightning speed via 5G mobile networks – the new FRITZ!Box 6860 5G makes this possible. The fixed wireless access product supports 5G (NSA, SA) as well as LTE and achieves data rates of up to 1.3 gigabit/s. Equipped with strong Mesh Wi-Fi according to the Wi-Fi 6 standard, it can also distribute data wirelessly throughout the home. Thanks to the new small housing and the power connection via Power over Ethernet, the FRITZ!Box 6860 5G can be placed anywhere in the home, on a wall or at a window. It also offers practical tools to ensure optimal alignment, as well as the complete FRITZ! convenience for the home network.

AVM is expanding the Smart Home from FRITZ! with Zigbee wireless technology. In addition to DECT ULE, devices with Zigbee can now also be connected directly via the FRITZ!Box. The first products to support Zigbee and DECT are the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro, the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS, and the new FRITZ!Smart Gateway. This plug-in gateway combines DECT and Zigbee in one device and expands the FRITZ! Smart Home with a number of new applications. A number of integration options open up, especially for lighting control, since Zigbee LED lights from other manufacturers that users already own can be easily integrated into the FRITZ! Smart Home. Via the smart Gateway, existing FRITZ!Box models will also become Zigbee-capable.

In addition to these four upcoming FRITZ! innovations, AVM is showing trade visitors its complete FRITZ! portfolio for all broadband technologies with the current Wi-Fi 6 wireless standard. FRITZ!OS 7.50, the major update with over 150 new features and improvements for FRITZ! products, will be demonstrated on all products.

In another press release, we will present the planned FRITZ! products in more detail and describe the advantages of the Wi-Fi 7 standard and Zigbee Smart Home technology.
