Setting up group switching for FRITZ!DECT 500

You can combine several LED lights FRITZ!DECT 500 into a group and then easily control several LED lights in the same room together. You can also add smart plugs such as FRITZ!DECT 200 to the group, for example, which are then also switched together with the LED lights.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The LED light can be used with a FRITZ!Box with FRITZ!OS 7.20 or later, except for FRITZ!Box 7430 and 7560.

1 Creating a group

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Devices and Groups" or "Groups and Templates" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click on the "Create Group" button.
  4. Enable the corresponding group of devices.
  5. Enter a name for the group and select the devices you want to switch together in the group.
  6. Click "Finished" or "Next" to save the settings. The group is then created.

2 Switching a group

Smart plugs and LED lights that you have grouped together can either be switched automatically, via a "Master", or manually, if necessary:

Switching a group automatically

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Devices and Groups" or "Groups and Templates" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the "Group switch" of the group you want to configure automatic switching for.
  4. In the section "Automatic switching", select "Switch group automatically" and set up the desired schedule.
  5. Click "Apply" or "OK" to save the settings.

Switching a group via a "Master"

You can define a smart home device as the so-called "master". When it is switched automatically or manually, all devices in the "master's" group are switched as well. The "master" does not have to belong to the group you want to switch:

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Devices and Groups" or "Groups and Templates" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button that corresponds to the group for which you want to configure switching via a "Master".
  4. In the section "Automatic switching", enable the option "Switch a group via a Smart Home device" and select the device you want to use as the "Master" in the drop-down list "Smart Home Device".
  5. Click "Apply" or "OK" to save the settings.

Switching a group manually

If you manually switch a group that you also set up an automatic switching schedule for, the manual switching applies until the next automatic switching time occurs:

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Operation" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click on the On/Off switch for the group.

Note:You can switch and control the smart home group in the home network and from anywhere over the internet.
