Saving the settings and restoring them to the same FRITZ!Box

You can save the settings of your FRITZ!Box in a backup file and use it to restore all or only certain settings (for example Wi-Fi settings, FRITZ!Box users) in the same FRITZ!Box, if necessary.
Always backup your settings right after changing them and after updating FRITZ!OS so you can always restore the last configuration that worked well.

1 Saving settings of the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Save Settings" or "Backup" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Save" tab.
  4. Enter a password.

Tip: Be sure to keep the password in a safe place. The backup file can be used only after the password has been entered.

  5. Click the "Save" button and save the file "FRITZ.Box[...].export" on your computer.

2 Restoring the FRITZ!Box settings

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Backup" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Restore" tab.
  4. If available, enable the option "From this FRITZ!Box or another FRITZ!Box of the same model" if you want to restore all of the settings, or enable "From a different FRITZ!Box model" if you only want to restore certain settings.
  5. Enter the password you entered when saving the file.
  6. Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button.
  7. Select the file "FRITZ.Box[...].export" with the settings you want to restore.
  8. If you only want to restore certain settings, enable the option "Select manually the settings to be restored" or "restore selected settings".
  9. Click the "Restore" button.
  10. Enable the settings you want to restore.
  11. Click "Apply".

3 Registering DECT devices

If DECT devices did not automatically connect to the FRITZ!Box after you imported the settings, register them with the FRITZ!Box again. To keep all of the settings, use the FRITZ!Box's button to register them and not the wizard in the FRITZ!Box user interface:

  1. Register cordless telephones, DECT repeaters, FRITZ!DECT sockets, and FRITZ!DECT radiator controls with the FRITZ!Box again.
