FRITZ!Fon reports "No resources"

You cannot use a FRITZ!Fon registered with a FRITZ!Box to make calls. When you try to make a call, one of the following messages is shown on the telephone display:

  • "No resources"
  • "No Resource"
  • "No Route to destination"

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Selecting the correct connection type for the telephone number

Since 2018, no new internet connections with landlines have been activated in Germany. New connections are always IP-based connections without splitters or NTs. In addition, almost all existing connections were converted to IP-based connections. If you configured the telephone number as a landline number in the FRITZ!Box, you probably selected the incorrect connection type:

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Delete) button for the telephone number.
  4. Reconfigure the telephone number and select your internet telephony provider during setup.
  5. If you are unable to register the telephone number after setup, contact your provider to have them check your telephone number and login information.

2 Selecting the correct connection type for use behind a device

If you connected the FRITZ!Box to the landline through another device (for example a cable modem), you must configure the correct connection type in the FRITZ!Box. The connection type depends on the cabling and not the number of available telephone numbers. If you connected the FRITZ!Box to an analog extension, you must select "analog line" and if you connected it to an S0 bus you must select "ISDN line".

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Enable the option "Landline number" and click "Next".
  5. Select the type of landline and click "Next".

Important:You are only asked to select the type of landline (analog or ISDN line) when you configure the first landline number. If you want to change the connection type later, you must delete all of the landline numbers you configured first.

  6. Enter your landline number or ISDN telephone numbers (MSNs) and click "Next".

3 Reconfiguring your telephone

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Delete the telephone that cannot be used to make calls from your landline. To do so, click the corresponding (Delete) button.
  4. Reconfigure the telephone: Click "Configure New Device" and follow the instructions.

4 Checking the landline

  1. Disconnect the FRITZ!Box from the landline.
  2. Connect a telephone to the same line.
  3. If the telephone also does not work when connected to the line, contact your telephony provider and have your line checked.

ATTENTION!You may be charged for checking. Ask your telephony provider about charges in advance!
