Cannot register FRITZ!DECT 500

Registration of the LED light FRITZ!DECT 500 to the FRITZ!Box or the FRITZ!Smart Gateway fails. After you push the DECT or Connect button on the FRITZ!Box or the FRITZ!Smart Gateway, the DECT connection is not established. The LED light flashes red several times and then glows red. The LED lamp is not displayed or is displayed with an inactive connection in the menu "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box or FRITZ!Smart Gateway.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Using a compatible FRITZ!Box

FRITZ!Box 7430 und 7560 cannot be used with the LED light.

2 Maximum number has been reached

A certain number of smart home devices can be registered with the FRITZ!Box and the FRITZ!Smart Gateway. If you already registered the maximum number of devices, you cannot register any more.

3 Removing incompatible DECT repeaters

If a DECT repeater from another manufacturer or a FRITZ!Box 7390, 7270 or 7240 configured as a DECT repeater is registered with your FRITZ!Box, you must remove it. The LED light cannot be used with these DECT repeaters.

Note:If you need a DECT repeater in your network, you can use FRITZ!DECT Repeater 100 together with the LED light. However, the LED light must be in the reception area of the base station.

  1. Click "Telephony" in the user interface of the DECT base station.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click on the "Monitor" tab.
  4. Click the entry for the respective the repeater.
  5. Click the (Delete) button.

4 Disabling "Reduce DECT field strength"

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Disable the option "Reduce DECT field strength" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

5 Disabling "DECT Eco"

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Disable the option "DECT Eco" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

6 Enabling encryption

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Enable the option "Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)" in the section "Security".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  5. If the option was disabled, you must then restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ("System > Backup > Restart").

7 Setting a PIN

For automatic registration to work, you must set the PIN to "0000" in the FRITZ!Box user interface:

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Enter "0000" as the PIN in the section "Registration".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

8 Deregistering and resetting the LED light

You can deregister the LED light and restore it to factory settings. This deletes a faulty connection to the FRITZ!Box or the FRITZ!Smart Gateway and all of the settings that are preventing a connection from being established:

If the LED light is displayed under "Smart Home > Devices and Groups" in the user interface of your FRITZ!Box or the FRITZ!Smart Gateway, you must delete it:

  1. Click "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface or in the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.
  2. Click "Devices and Groups" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click the "Delete Device" button.
  4. Afterwards, click the (Delete) button next to the respective device.

Loading the factory settings of the LED light

  1. Use the light switch to turn off the LED bulb for 5 seconds.
  2. Use the light switch to turn off the LED bulb for 1 second.
  3. Repeat both of these steps 4 more times.

  4. Turn the lamp off and then on again.
  5. When the LED light flashes green and then glows red, the factory settings have finished loading and this shows that the LED light is ready to be registered with the FRITZ!Box.
