Telephone does not ring when configuring it in the user interface

When you configure a telephone under "Telephony > Telephony Devices > Configure New Device" in the user interface, the FRITZ!Box checks whether the telephone is connected properly. After you select how the telephone is connected, the question "Is the telephone ringing?" is displayed. However, the telephone does not ring and you cannot continue with the configuration.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Connecting the telephone directly to the FRITZ!Box

The following steps are only necessary if the telephone is connected to a telephone system that is connected to the FRITZ!Box:

  1. Disconnect the telephone from the telephone system and connect it directly to the FRITZ!Box.

If the telephone rings now, the telephone system is incorrectly configured. Refer to the manufacturer of the telephone system for information on how to configure it.

2 Testing a different telephone

  1. Disconnect the telephone from the FRITZ!Box and connect a different telephone to the same socket.

Important:The ISDN telephones you connect to the FRITZ!Box must be suitable for use with ISDN point-to-point connections. In addition, the cables of ISDN telephones may not exceed 10 m in length. Point-to-multipoint ISDN lines are common in home environments and in small businesses, while ISDN BRIs are more commonly used in professional environments.

    • If the second telephone rings, the first telephone or its cable is defective.
