Registering FRITZ!DECT Repeater with the FRITZ!Box

You can increase the DECT range of your FRITZ!Box (base station) with up to six FRITZ!DECT Repeaters and then even make calls with your cordless telephones from your garden or on different floors of your house. You must push a button to register it.

If you leave the coverage area of one device while making a call, the telephone automatically connects to the other device without interrupting the call.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • A maximum of six FRITZ!DECT Repeaters can be registered with the FRITZ!Box. DECT repeaters from other manufacturers and FRITZ!DECT Repeaters cannot be registered in parallel.
  • All repeaters must be registered with the base station (star topology). It is not possible to register a repeater with another repeater (cascading).
  • The "DECT Eco" function can no longer be used.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Establishing a DECT connection

  1. Plug the repeater into a power outlet near the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Push the DECT button on the repeater. Hold down the button for at least 6 seconds until the DECT LED starts to flash quickly. The repeater is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes quickly.
  3. Within 2 minutes: Push the DECT button on the FRITZ!Box. Hold down the button for at least 6 seconds until the DECT or Info LED on the FRITZ!Box starts to flash. The FRITZ!Box is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes.
  4. The DECT LED on the repeater remains lit as soon as the DECT connection has been established.

2 Finding the ideal location for the repeater

  1. Select a location for the repeater where a telephone that is registered directly with the FRITZ!Box still has perfect reception. The DECT LED on the repeater must remain lit. If the LED flashes, the repeater has no connection to the FRITZ!Box. In addition, at the location you select for the repeater, voice transmission with every telephone must be absolutely interference-free in both directions when the repeater is switched off. Otherwise, the location is not a suitable place to position the repeater.

Now the repeater extends the DECT radio network of the base station. Register new telephones with the base station. You cannot register telephones with the repeater.

Note:FRITZ!Fons now display a small red 1 over the signal strength bars when they are logged onto the base station and a 2 when they are logged onto the repeater. If you are using several repeaters, the numbers 2 to 7 are used.
