Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Movistar line

To use the FRITZ!Box with Movistar, simply connect it to the fiber optic modem from Movistar and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Use a network cable to connect the "LAN 1" port on the FRITZ!Box to the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT), for example use the network cable included with delivery.

2 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  1. Click "Account Information" in the "Internet" menu.
  2. Select "other internet service provider" from the drop-down list.
  3. Enable the option "Connection to an external modem or router" in the "Connect via" area.
  4. Enable the option "Establish own connection to the internet" in the section "Operating Mode".
  5. Enable the option "Yes" in the section "Account Information".
  6. Enter adslppp@telefonicanetpa as the "Username".
  7. Enter adslppp for the "Password".
  8. Enter the speeds of your internet connection in the "Downstream" and "Upstream" fields.
  9. Click "Change Connection Settings".
  10. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
  11. Enter 6 in the field "VLAN ID" and 1 in the field "PBit".
  12. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is completed as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Movistar.

3 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Entering the VLAN ID for internet telephony

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click on the "Line Settings" tab.
  4. Click on "Changing the Settings" in the "Telephony connection" section.
  5. Click "Connection Settings for DSL/WAN".
  6. Enable the option "VLAN required for internet telephony".
  7. Enter 3 in the field "VLAN ID".
  8. Enter 4 in the field "PBit". 

    Important:If telephony is not possible with PBit 4, enter 5 in the field "PBit".

  9. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "Other provider" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your telephone number without +34 (for example 911234567) by "Telephone number for registration" and "Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box".
  6. Enter your telephone number (for example 012345678) by "Username" and "Password".
  7. Enter telefonica.net in the field "Registrar".
  8. Enter 10.31.255.134:5070 in the "Proxy server" field.
  9. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making outgoing calls.
  5. Select the numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "OK" to save the settings.
