Adding background images and contact pictures using FRITZ!Fon

The FRITZ!Box allows you to add your own images to telephone book entries that you use often. When those parties call, the corresponding pictures are then shown on the display of your FRITZ!Fon. You can also configure your own background image for each telephone that is then displayed in standby mode. You simply use the FRITZ!Box user interface to upload the images and transmit them to your telephones.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • Only FRITZ!Fons with color displays support the use of background images and contact pictures.
  • A USB storage device must be connected to the FRITZ!Box and the USB remote connection may not be enabled for USB storage media under "Home Network > USB / Storage > USB Remote Connection" in the user interface.
  • You can only add contact pictures to telephone books saved directly in the FRITZ!Box. With Google Contacts, the pictures you assigned to your contacts in your Google account are displayed. This function cannot be used with other online telephone books.
  • No DECT repeaters from other manufacturers are registered with the FRITZ!Box.
  • The images you would like to use are in JPEG format.

Note:We recommend a resolution of at least 240x320 pixels for the images, with an ideal aspect ratio of 1:1. When you save an image as JPEG in image editing software, we recommend using "baseline" encoding (usually the default).

  • You can add up to 256 contact pictures.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
